Abstract

Bryophyte collecting in Riley County, Kansas and neighboring counties since September 1987 has yielded four species of mosses not previously reported from the state of Kansas. In addition to these species, new records are cited for 13 species considered rare in occurrence in the state, and new county records are given for an additional 34 species. One hundred fifty-six species of mosses are now known to occur in the state. The moss flora of Kansas is still inadequately known, and further systematic collecting anywhere in the state can be expected to yield additional distributional records
