This paper concerns the effect on the earthworms of fire, a vital component of prairie ecology. Prairie has two specific effects: 1) spring burned plots have greater production of grass shoots and roots than unburned plots, and 2) soil temperatures are higher and moisture content lower in spring burned plots than in unburned plots.
